Tower Peak Station Farm Description
Tower Peak Station is 1,906 ha of freehold land in the Te Anau District, 35km from Te Anau, 134km from Invercargill and 170km from Queenstown.
The contour of the farm is 900 ha flat and 380 ha rolling with the balance medium to steeper hill country. The entrance drive is 3.7km which puts the yards etc in the centre for easy management for a property of this size. Average rainfall per annum is 1,000 - 1,200mm and the altitude of the farm is 270 - 550 metres above sea level, with most at 300 metres above sea level. The farm has 146 main paddocks and 2 airstrips. The fencing on the property is a mix of post and wire & 5 wire electric and 135ha is deer fenced. The farm also has outstanding established shelter and young shelter belts including Douglas Fir, Eucalyptus, Corscian Pine, Pinus Radiata and Hagerston Grays. 1,000 shelter trees are planted per year.
There are three houses on the farm with the main homestead being a brick four bedroom home set in established grounds, a four bedroom bungalow style home and a three bedroom lockwood home. There are also two self contained staff accommodation facilities(a two bedroom and a one bedroom). The farm buildings consist of a raised six stand woolshed and extensive covered yards, six bay implement shed and four bay gable plus workshop with attached five bay leanto, six bay hay barn and a clearspan hangar for general storage.
Tower Peak Station is now run as an intensive support and heifer grazing unit for the Spectrum Group mid Canterbury dairy farms, carrying up to 4,000 yearling and R2 heifers.
