Established in 2009, Mitcham Holdings Ltd is 205 hectares, milking 780 cows under a production system 3.
The farm has two centre pivots which irrigate approximately 170 ha. A further 30 ha is irrigated with a rotorainer. The farm has a modern effluent management and distribution system. The farm buildings include a 60-bail rotary (built in 2003) with ACR’s. The dairyshed also has an in-shed grain/meal and molasses feeding system as well as a 100 tonne grain silo and grain crusher. An 8 bay calf shed is also directly plumbed to the dairy shed.
Staff accommodation includes a 4 bedroom quality Manager's House, Two x 2 bedroom brick self- contained flats and a 3 bedroom house (renovated in 2009).
Baz Beswick is the manager of Mitcham Holdings. He took up the manager role in June 2013 having previously been the 2IC at another Spectrum Group farm. He employs three permanent staff including a 2IC and 2 farm assistants.
Mitcham is located 17km north of Ashburton. Ashburton is the main rural settlement for the Mid Canterbury region and has a high level of services including schools and all associated farm supply stores. The farm has stunning views of the Alps and is approximately 30 minutes drive to Methven.
