Apsley Farm is the latest addition to the Spectrum Group farming portfolio, strengthening the Group’s integrated beef and dairy support operations.
Located near Darfield in Mid-Canterbury, the main Apsley Farm spans 180 hectares and operates as a high-performing grazing support and finishing property. Established in the 1800s, Apsley Farm remained in the same family ownership for more than a century before being acquired by Spectrum Group in 2025.
Complementing the main farm is a large-scale, purpose-built off-farm calf rearing facility situated within a 20-minute drive. In its first season, the facility successfully reared 950 surplus beef calves for the Group. Calves are raised in custom-designed calf rearing sheds, with a portion sold to market and the remainder transferred to Apsley Farm for ongoing grazing and finishing.
Apsley Farm also plays a key role in supporting Spectrum Group’s dairy operations, providing annual winter grazing for Spectrum Dairy farms. The property is fully irrigated, utilising a combination of centre pivot and rota-rainer systems, and is well equipped with quality support buildings. An executive home is located on the property, reflecting the farm’s strong infrastructure and long-term operational focus.
Further investment is planned, with 2026 set to deliver upgrades to yard facilities as part of Spectrum Group’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
